Although the Tennessee Titans earned their first win of the season on Monday night and Mason Rudolph played most of the game, Will Levis will remain the team’s starting quarterback as long as he is healthy.

Head coach Brian Callahan told reporters after the Titans’ 31-12 win over the Miami Dolphins that Levis is still the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart.

“Will is healthy, he’s our quarterback,” Callahan said after the game. “He’s our starter when he’s healthy and we’re ready to play with him.”

Levis left the game after landing on his right shoulder while running for a first down midway through the first quarter.

Callahan believes Levis’ injury is not serious, but will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to confirm the extent of the injury.

“I don’t think it will be anything too serious other than a normal AC injury,” Callahan said. “Right now I don’t think it’s a long-term problem for us.”

Levis attempted a few warmup passes on the sideline to see if he could get back into the game, but the Titans decided to hold him back because he was feeling unwell. He finished 3-of-4 for 25 yards and an interception.

Rudolph had his first game action of the season on Monday night. He went 9 of 17 for 85 yards in 54 snaps. The 29-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Titans in the offseason after going 3-0 in three starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.

The Titans clinched the victory thanks to a season-high 142 rushing yards. Tony Pollard’s 88 yards on the ground were his most in a game since Week 3 of the 2023 season, when he had 122 yards on 23 carries for the Dallas Cowboys.

Levis’ long-term status as Tennessee’s starter has already caused speculation this season due to his numerous turnovers. Even Callahan recognized The second-year quarterback made a “stupid” mistake after attempting a lateral in a 24-17 loss to the New York Jets in Week 2.

Tennessee has a bye in Week 5 to regroup for the remainder of the season. This also gives Levis’ shoulder additional time to heal before the Titans host the Indianapolis Colts on October 13th.

Monday’s win over the Dolphins marked the first time since Week 17 of the 2021 season that the Titans scored at least 30 points in a game.
