Robert Saleh retracts his concerns about Aaron Rodgers’ cadence

Robert Saleh apparently doesn’t want to end up on “the island”.

The Jets’ head coach has walked back concerns he expressed about quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ cadence following Sunday’s 10-9 loss to the Broncos.

“We have to figure out if we are good enough or ready to handle all the cadence,” Saleh said Sunday. “Cadence was not a problem throughout the camp. We felt like our business was doing pretty well. Obviously it took a big step back today.”

On Monday, Saleh pulled out the mop, perhaps to avoid Rodgers stuffing it in a bucket — and/or banishing it to the symbolic place where all family and friends go when they get in his way.

“We always are I’m going to push the limits with the cadence” Saleh said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. “Always. But in terms of operations, entering and exiting the huddle, getting to the line of scrimmage, the communication that took place, those are all things that we can continue to look at and clean up. . . . But as far as cadence goes, it’s part of what makes us who we are, and we’re going to continue to push the limits with that.”

The Jets had five false starts on Sunday. Rodgers dismissed it as an aberration.

“I don’t know if we need to make mass changes because of a runaway game,” Rodgers said. He did admit that changing his rhythm “is one way to do it.” . . The other option is to hold them accountable.”

So basically Rodgers is saying he’s not the problem. The people who move before they’re supposed to move are the ones. And Rodgers clearly believes that the coach should make sure the other 10 players on offense don’t screw things up, rather than tinkering with something Rodgers has often used over the years to get defenses offsides and free plays to get.
