Thread for the New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves doubleheader game, Monday, September 30, 12:10 p.m. CT

As you know, two Mets and Braves games in Atlanta were postponed last week due to Hurricane Helene.

Because the games still have significance for playoff positioning, they will be played as a doubleheader this afternoon at Truist Park.

The situation is simple. If either team wins the doubleheader, that team and the Diamondbacks will claim the final two wild card spots. If the doubleheader splits, the Braves and Mets are in and the D-backs are out.

You can see how this can lead to shenanigans. Hopefully that won’t be the case.

Here’s the information you need for the two games broadcast on ESPN2, a full national broadcast with no interruptions.

Since these are regular season games, there are no specific schedules for them. However, each team will receive a 29th man for the doubleheader, who will be available for both games.

For the first game, RHP Tylor Megill will start for the Mets and RHP Spencer Wechselbach will start for the Braves. Neither team has announced a starter for Game 2 – that likely depends on what happens in Game 1.

As mentioned in the headline, first pitch should be at 12:10 p.m. CT.

That should be all you need to keep track of these important games. As a reminder, I will also have game threads for every postseason game here, starting with the four wild card games on Tuesday.

Enjoy it and discuss among yourself.
