How to watch the 2024-25 Lakers media day

The Los Angeles Lakers will host their annual media day for the 2024-25 season at the UCLA Health Training Center on Monday, September 30 at 11:30 a.m. PT.

This is the official start of the 2024-25 season for the Lakers as they will hold their first practice on Tuesday, October 1st before their preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Palm Springs on Friday, October 4th start.

It was a quiet offseason for the Lakers, who made no additions to their roster other than signing Dalton Knecht and Bronny James to replace free agents Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie.

James’ presence is still likely to attract a lot of attention at Media Day, as he will join LeBron as the first father-son duo in NBA history.

This is also JJ Redick’s first media day as head coach. At last Wednesday’s press conference, he discussed several topics with general manager Rob Pelinka, including how the Lakers will manage James’ workload as he enters his 22nd season.

“I think it’s again about communication. “LeBron, myself, Mike (Mancias), LeRoy (Sims), we’ve already talked about what October is going to look like for him as we get going,” Redick said.

“I think everyone in this building is aware of the fact that he’s almost 40. But when we look at the pickup games, he’s going full throttle. When he goes on the pitch, he goes. So in a way, maybe we need to protect him from himself at times, whether it’s in training camp or at practice throughout the season. But we will be careful and thoughtful. We have a process for that too.”

Redick added that LeBron and Bronny could share the floor sooner rather than later. “We haven’t planned anything per se as far as committing to doing it this way,” Redick began.

“Of course we talked about it as a staff and went into some details about what that might look like. But we haven’t committed to anything. And of course there’s a discussion to be had once we’re all with Bronny and LeBron. You should be part of this discussion too.”

Lakers Media Day will be broadcast live on Monday at 11:30 a.m. PT on the Lakers’ YouTube page as well as on Spectrum SportsNet and Spectrum News 1.

Spectrum News 1 is available on Channel 1 and in the Spectrum News app for mobile, Xumo, Roku and Apple TV streaming devices.
