The Molalla River School District will reopen Monday after threats

MOLALLA Ore Mountains (KPTV) – The Molalla River School District was closed Friday due to a threat posted on social media.

A threat was made against Molalla River Middle School on Wednesday morning after a student with emoji guns made a social media post that read, “Your next Molalla River Middle School on the 26th/27th.” September” had published.

The Molalla Police Department (MPD) investigated and took a middle school student into custody.

A separate post was received by the middle school principal on Thursday and several posts were received asking students not to go to school on Friday due to possible violence. A separate report was also received by Safe Oregon. MPD also received reports of possible violence via social media.

It was noted that the new reports would not be fully investigated until Friday morning, which District Superintendent Tony Mann said led to the district canceling all schools in the district as a precautionary measure.

The district will reopen schools on Monday.

As a precautionary measure, the entire school district was closed Friday. All activities inside and outside of school have also been canceled.

Police said a middle school student was taken into custody after a thorough investigation.

The police did not provide any further information.
