The Eagles’ loss and the Phillies’ postseason loss left Philadelphia sports fans with mixed emotions

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — There’s a mix of emotions among Philadelphia sports fans on Sunday following the Eagles’ tough loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“It was disappointing and annoying to see us fall apart so early. Jalen (Hurts) couldn’t get his way. It’s tough,” said Zac Benigni of Downingtown, who watched the game at Chickie’s & Pete’s in South Philadelphia.

“We lost five people. We need AJ Brown, (DeVonta) Smith. We need the people we lost. We’ll be fine,” said Jesse Brown of West Philadelphia.

Fans are still reeling from the 33-16 loss and trying to think of something positive — like the Phillies’ postseason, which is less than a week away.

“I am a true Philadelphia sports fan and am looking forward to Red October. “I have every confidence in the Phillies to get the job done this year,” said Debbie Barratt of Berlin, New Jersey.

Red October banners now hang in Citizens Bank Park.

Fans are hoping this week off gives the Phillies the time they need to rest and prepare for the National League Division Series, which begins on Saturday, October 5th.

The Eagles have a bye week next Sunday and look to bounce back on Oct. 13 against the Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field.
