An exciting weekend of college football action rocked the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Texas replaces Georgia in first place and keeps Alabama just behind. The Longhorns received 29 of 55 first-place votes and are just nine poll points ahead of the Crimson Tide. It is the first No. 1 ranking for Texas in the coaches’ poll since October 26, 2008.

Alabama was picked first in 19 ballots following its thrilling win over Georgia. The remaining top seven votes went to Ohio State, which remains at No. 3 overall after its win in its Big Ten opener at Michigan State. Tennessee moves up to No. 4 after a week off, while Georgia slips to No. 5.

Two other top 10 teams suffered home defeats over the weekend. Mississippi drops six spots to No. 11 after a home loss to Kentucky, and Utah falls eight spots to No. 18 after its loss to Arizona.

Those results left room for a move into the bottom half of the top 10. No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Penn State and No. 8 Miami (Florida) each move up one notch. Missouri jumps to No. 9 and Michigan returns to the top 10.

The only newcomer in this week’s Top 25 is Indiana, which is off to an impressive 5-0 start. It’s the Hoosiers’ first poll appearance since the preseason rankings in 2021. Illinois remains at No. 25 after its loss to Penn State, 19 points ahead of Boise State.

Oklahoma State is the only dropout of the week.
