The Pittsburgh Steelers are rekindling their interest in the wide receiver trade market

After a hot 3-0 start to the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers are once again looking for help from wide receivers. While they cut Brandon Aiyuk after he signed a contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, other teams unwilling to move players may now consider the Steelers as a trade opportunity.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano says the Steelers are expected to seek help from a wide receiver at the trade deadline.

“I expect them to continue monitoring the receiver trade market as the deadline approaches,” Graziano wrote for ESPN. “Tennessee’s DeAndre Hopkins and Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk are two veterans who may become available and could be attractive to the Steelers if their teams continue to lose and fall out of the playoff race.”

Hopkins and Kirk are just two names that make sense right now, but that might not be the answer by the deadline. The Steelers need help for Pickens. With rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson still getting up to speed and the rest of the room proving inconsistent, another legitimate starter would be a big help to the Steelers’ passing offense.

Wide receiver is currently the biggest problem on the team’s roster. There could be major injury issues, but Pittsburgh has looked much better than expected due to Justin Fields’ performance in the passing game. They need to increase the offensive ceiling by adding another wide receiver who can function in the team’s dropback game, as their play-action passing game is going almost nowhere at this point in the season.
