MLB announces wild card schedule and game times, including Brewers’ three games at American Family Field

Major League Baseball has officially announced the seasons for the NL and AL Wild Card Series. The series pits the No. 3 seed (the worst record of the three division winners in each league) against the No. 6 seed (the third-best record of the non-division winners in each league) and the No. 4 seed. second-best non-division winners) begin on Tuesday and end on Thursday in a best-of-three format.

The Brewers will host either the New York Mets or Arizona Diamondbacks leading up to New York’s doubleheader with the Braves on Monday. Read below to learn more about the Wild Card Series and Milwaukee’s potential opponent.

Who will Milwaukee play?

That’s the biggest unanswered question in a regular season that’s already over for all but two teams, which happen to be two teams fighting for playoff spots. Milwaukee’s (and San Diego’s) opponent will remain up in the air until tomorrow, when the Braves and Mets face off in a doubleheader in Atlanta. On Monday, the Braves, Mets and Diamondbacks face each other in a virtual draw (separated by percentage points). Here’s how the postseason round will unfold depending on Monday’s results.

Braves win both games: The No. 5 seed goes to Atlanta, the No. 6 seed goes to Arizona

Both teams win a game: The No. 5 seed goes to Atlanta, the No. 6 seed goes to New York

Mets win both games: Seed #5 goes to New York, seed #6 goes to Arizona

Either the Brewers face the Diamondbacks or the Mets. If you want to play the D-Backs, cheer for a sweep; If you want to play the Mets, be happy about a series split. It’s that simple.

When do the games take place?

Regardless of who the Brewers ultimately welcome to American Family Field, their game times have already been determined. The Crew will begin their postseason on Tuesday, October 1st with game one of the NL Wild Card Series, with first pitch scheduled for 4:32 p.m

Game two is on Wednesday, October 2nd, with first pitch scheduled for 6:38 p.m., and game three (if necessary) is on Thursday, October 3rd, with first pitch scheduled for 7:38 p.m

All three Milwaukee games will air on ABC/ESPN along with the other three wild card series (Tigers vs. Astros, Royals vs. Orioles and TBD vs. Padres).

Who would Milwaukee play if they moved on?

If the Brewers advance through the wild-card round, they will travel to Philadelphia to begin a best-of-five series with the Phillies in the National League Division Series. Games one and two would take place on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 in Philadelphia; games three and four would take place on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9 in Milwaukee; and game five would take place on Friday, October 11th in Philadelphia. All five of those games would air on Fox/FS1.
