Andy Reid provides update on Rashee Rice’s knee injury after Chiefs win

The Kansas City Chiefs secured a win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, but suffered a significant loss to their wide receiver corps.

Star wideout Rashee Rice suffered a knee injury in the first half after colliding with Patrick Mahomes while trying to make a tackle following a turnover. Rice was carted off the field and did not return to the game.

When coach Andy Reid was asked about Rice’s status by CBS’ Tracy Wolfson at halftime, he didn’t sound very optimistic. Even though he didn’t have a major update, he admitted that “it’s not good.”

After the game, Reid still didn’t have a final update, but said Rice would undergo an MRI on Monday.

“I feel terrible for Rashee…let’s hope for the best,” Reid said of the young wide receiver, via ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the initial concerns surrounding Rice’s knee are that the 24-year-old suffered a torn ACL, which would of course sideline him for the remainder of the season.

Rice didn’t make a catch before leaving Sunday’s game. He had been by far Patrick Mahomes’ most targeted receiver through the first three games of the season, in which he had 24 receptions on 29 targets for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

Chiefs fans will have to wait until Monday for a more conclusive update on Rice’s injury, although the early signs certainly seem grim.
