The Chiefs fear the worst for WR Rashee Rice after he suffered an injury against the Chargers

The Kansas City Chiefs could lose another offensive weapon to injury after wide receiver Rashee Rice left the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was carted off the field after suffering a knee injury.

After the game, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave a pessimistic update on the star wideout’s status.

“I feel terrible for Rashee…let’s hope for the best.”

If Rice has to sit out for an extended period of time, the Chiefs will have to rely on others to get through the season. Rice had become one of the more explosive offensive weapons in the entire league, so this would be a major blow to their offense.

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes also spoke about the injury after the game. He said he was hopeful for Rice, but if he was forced to miss time, others would have to step in.

“We’ll see what happens with Rashee. Hopefully we can get him back at some point this season, but if not, other guys will have to step up. That’s what football is about. I think we have a lot of good guys there so you can go out there and make plays.

The Chiefs are already dealing with some injuries, as Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was sidelined for the entire regular season. Tight end Travis Kelce also had a slow start to the year, making this injury to Rice even more critical for Kansas City.

The Chiefs have experienced a very inconsistent offensive attack this season, but remain 4-0 on the season. On Sunday they picked up another win against the Chargers and remained undefeated in the new year.

Kansas City is looking to become the first team to win three straight titles in the Super Bowl era. Things could be even more difficult for them without Rice, as he has become the most reliable outside linebacker for Mahomes.

“You could see he was more versatile this year,” Mahomes added. “He’s able to run more and more routes and the way he catches the ball and makes things happen after the catch makes him a tough guy to tackle. And so I think being able to do both things helps.” “The speed out there kind of helps him spread the field and then Travis gets a lot of attention.”

With Rice scheduled for an MRI scan soon, we should know more about the extent of this injury. But based on initial considerations, Kansas City should expect its star to be out for an extended period of time, if not the entire season.
