A LARGE TAKEAWAY
At the end of the season, Boston turned to a young pitcher who could develop into an important arm for the Red Sox in the future. Quinn Priest made a midseason prospect move that sent Nick Yorke to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Priest made nine starts at Triple-A Worcester, striking out just under 10 batters per nine innings. The 24-year-old had a solid performance in his MLB debut with the Red Sox, allowing just four hits and one earned run with two strikeouts in five innings against the Rays.

Young starters will continue to be the focus of the Red Sox in the future. Tanner Houck, Brayan Bello and Kutter Crawford each made 30 starts this season for the first time in their careers. Depth like Richard Fitts and Hunter Dobbins will eventually find more experience, and Priest is the next stepping stone for Boston’s pitching development.
