The New York Jets suffered their most embarrassing loss of the 2024 season.

Gang Green lost 10-9 to the Denver Broncos and Breece Hall was the main culprit in the loss.

The former Iowa State product carried the rock 10 times for four rushing yards. That’s an average of 0.4 yards per rush. Hall’s longest rush of the game was three yards.

Even Aaron Rodgers, 17 years older, finished with more rushing yards (26) than Hall.

“This is probably the worst game Breece Hall has played in the NFL. The weather obviously doesn’t help, but regardless, he was bad. Also mental mistakes. I just have to roll with Braelon Allen as RB1 for the rest of this game,” The Jet Press wrote on social media.

While Hall certainly struggled, rookie running back Braelon Allen was making plays when he got his hands on the ball.

He finished the game with eight carries for 34 rushing yards at an average of 4.3 per clip.

“Breece Hall was terrible today. Where is the responsibility of the coaches to force him to rest him and let Allen, who was more productive, burn? Clueless (expletive) coaches,” wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter.

The turning point of the Jets-Broncos game

There was 1:02 left in the first quarter on third-and-11 when Rodgers threw the ball toward wide receiver Allen Lazard in the end zone. The ball fell incomplete, but the referees called it defensive pass interference and moved the ball to the one-yard line.

The Jets handed it to Hall for no gain on the first play of the game. They ran the same play on second and goal, Hall was maxed out and had no gain. On third-and-goal, the team brought Allen into the game, but instead of handing him the ball, it ran a play-action pass that was incomplete.

The Jets went for a fourth-and-1, but a false start pushed the team back to the five-yard line. Instead of trying, the Jets settled for a field goal.

This decision cost them four points. Gang Green lost by one at the end of the game.

After the game, head coach Robert Saleh was questioned about his decision to continue driving Hall instead of joining Allen despite his struggles.

“No, sure, definitely something we can look at, but it was still pretty early when this piece was made. You know, like I said, we’ll always rely on Breece, he’s our workhorse. Braelon got a few more runs throughout the game, but it’s always something to watch,” Saleh responded on Sunday, September 29.

#Jets HC Robert Saleh was asked why he didn’t give the ball when it was 1st and 1 given Breece Hall’s struggles against Braelon Allen #Broncos:

Aaron Rodgers reacts to Hall Bad Game, turning point in competition

After the game, Rodgers was asked about the goal line order at the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second quarter.

“Yeah, I mean, we had three chances, we had three good calls, didn’t make any of them, then went offside and then kicked the field goal. In this league you have to get seven points to win. We had several opportunities to improve two points. We didn’t do it and that’s why we lost,” Rodgers said.

Despite Hall’s poor performance against Denver, Rodgers defended his teammate when asked about his performance in front of the media.

“Breece is a great player. He’s the best, I love him, he’s a great kid, he cares,” Rodgers said. “We need to get it working better to get to space. Dear Breece, always support him.”
