“Shazam!” star Zachary Levi has another DC on his mind lately — Washington, DC — as he supports Donald Trump for president.

The 44-year-old actor hosted an event on Saturday with former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whom he supported in the 2024 election. After Kennedy’s campaign was suspended, Levi expressed his support for Trump, the Republican presidential nominee.

“In a perfect world, whatever that would be, I might have voted for Bobby,” Levi said. “But we don’t live in a perfect world. In fact, we live in a very broken world. We live in a country that has been hijacked by many people who want to take this place far off the cliff, and we are here to stop that.”

He added: “We will take back this country. We will make it great again… Of the two options we have, and we only have two, President Trump is the man who can get us there.”

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who also supported Trump for president, attended the event in Dearborn, Michigan, along with Levi and Kennedy.

Explaining to attendees “why Shazam is standing here talking to you,” Levi said he grew up in a Christian conservative family and his parents taught him to have “a healthy level of distrust of the government,” adding adding that Kennedy was the “real deal” and the kind of politician he wanted to support as president.

Levi played the role of superhero Shazam, a little boy who transforms into a grown man after saying the titular word, in two DC films in 2019 and 2023. It is currently unclear whether he will reprise the role in future films following a reboot of the franchise under DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Levi also starred in the TV series “Chuck” and voiced Flynn Rider in the Disney animated film “Tangled.” He most recently starred in the film “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” which grossed just $17.6 million at the domestic box office.

The actor has previously been outspoken about his political views, saying in a 2020 post on X that he has “always” been a libertarian. “Some issues that are close to my heart have been fought for by Republicans, others by Democrats,” he wrote. In June, Levi described Kennedy by saying, “No candidate is perfect, but this man is the best we’ve had in a long time.”

In 2023, Levi faced backlash over a tweet that his followers interpreted as spreading an anti-vaccine message. In response to a user’s question, “Do you agree or disagree that Pfizer poses a real danger to the world,” Levi replied, “Hardcore agreement.”
