Inactive Packers: Green Bay lost 2 cornerbacks to the Vikings

The Green Bay Packers had two big injury questions to answer this weekend. The first is whether or not quarterback Jordan Love, who is dealing with an MCL sprain, would finally return to the field in Week 4. The other question was how many cornerbacks they would lose against the Minnesota Vikings, as Carrington Valentine was listed as doubtful on Friday, while Jaire Alexander was listed as questionable.

Love will indeed suit Green Bay today. Even the team’s inactive announcement mentions that Love is in the starting lineup today – so Love won’t be some kind of emergency backup quarterback.

Unfortunately, however, both Valentine and Alexander will be out against the Vikings, which kind of negates the good news we got on the Love front this week. Without Valentine and Alexander, the starting cornerback opposite Eric Stokes is a bit of a question mark. Keisean Nixon, who normally plays in the slot, played outside cornerback over the summer. But does the team really want to push away its slot corner? If they want to keep Nixon on the field, their next starting cornerback option is likely Corey Ballentine, who has played one defensive ball for the Packers this season.

Green Bay called up two cornerbacks to the practice squad on Saturday, Robert Rochell and Kamal Hadden. Hadden, a former 2024 Kansas City Chiefs draft pick, will make his Packers debut today.
