Rece Davis updates his college football rankings

ESPN’s “College GameDay” analyst Rece Davis has released his latest top 10 college football rankings. Davis, who is polling in the Associated Press poll, continues to rank the Texas Longhorns as his No. 1 team heading into Week 5.

Davis’ No. 2 team, the Georgia Bulldogs, will face his No. 7 team, the Alabama Crimson Tide, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Georgia (3-0) is a slight favorite over Alabama (3-0) but will play the Crimson Tide in a hostile away environment. Davis and GameDay will be in Tuscaloosa for the Georgia at Alabama game.

Other top games in Week 5 include Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State, Louisville vs. Notre Dame and Illinois vs. Penn State. Conference activities are in full swing, so we’re finally getting into the main college football schedule.

Rece Davis ranks the Miami Hurricanes in his top five following Miami’s recent win over USF. Davis also has the Tennessee Volunteers in his top five. Tennessee beat the Oklahoma Sooners 25-15 in their SEC opener last week. Speaking of college football’s top conference, SEC teams make up half of Davis’ top 10 rankings.
