Presidents Cup: The United States leads the international team 11-7 after a lively Saturday in Montreal

South Korean Tom Kim accused his American opponents of poor sportsmanship and insulted him as tensions rose again at the Presidents Cup in Montreal.

The U.S. won both four-ball and four-a-side sessions Saturday 3-1 and leads the international team 11-7. The twelve individual games on Sunday are still to come.

It was the match between Tom Kim and Kim Si-woo against Patrick Cantlay and

The South Korean pair had already beaten Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark 4&3 in four-ball before facing Cantlay and Schauffele.

He was six feet behind on the seventh hole and Tom Kim was upset that the Americans missed a three-foot par putt to halve the hole.

After he holed the putt, the 22-year-old placed his putter next to the pin to show how close he was.

Using their anger as motivation, Tom Kim holed a 37-footer on the ninth hole before they tied the score on the 10th.

After falling behind again on the 16th, Kim Si-woo showed a great chip out of the rough to tie the game on the final two holes. He celebrated wildly by mimicking Steph Curry’s “goodnight” celebration on the green.

“My favorite NBA player is Steph Curry, so I did that,” Kim said.

“It didn’t end well, but yeah, I was excited,” he added after Cantlay holed a birdie putt on the 18th to win the match.

However, the drama didn’t end there. Tom Kim, who was involved in a fight with world number one Scottie Scheffler on the first day, accused his opponents – without specifying who – of insulting him.

“It got a little livelier towards the end,” he said.

“I could hear some players insulting us. I don’t think there was good sportsmanship there. But it’s all part of the fun. I get it.”

“The U.S. team definitely motivated us to go there.”

The accusation was rejected by Kim’s opponents.

“I was like Pat and I, we treated the Kims with the utmost respect. We try to calm the crowd when they strike,” Schauffele said.

“I have no idea if anyone has done anything like this. I don’t think any of our guys would do something like that. So I’m not sure what he heard.”

Cantlay said he “didn’t even know what the goodnight gesture was” and wasn’t influenced by his opponents’ actions.
