NCAA Division II football results and biggest surprises of Week 5

A thrilling Week 5 of NCAA Division II football saw several ranked teams suffer surprising losses.

Emporia State (Kan.), previously ranked 13th, fell 14-9 to Northwest Missouri State, while Central Missouri, ranked 11th, lost 36-35 to Nebraska-Kearney.

Augustana (SD), ranked 18th, suffered a heartbreaking loss to MSU Moorhead (43-41), jeopardizing its ranking in the polls. Meanwhile, West Florida, ranked 12th, lost to Grand Valley State 31-7, which was a significant surprise for the previously strong competitor.

On the other hand, Ferris State (Mich.) maintained its dominance with an impressive 84-7 win over American International, while Colorado Mines triumphed 52-28 over Saginaw Valley State to cement its place among the top teams.

Kutztown (Pa.) defeated East Stroudsburg 27-21 and Minnesota State defeated Concordia-Stroudsburg. Paul, 33-20. Charleston (W.Va.) also had a strong performance, defeating Concord 42-7.

Week 5 was also impacted by Hurricane Helene, which canceled many games this week.
