College football scores, games, updates: Georgia at Alabama, Washington State at Boise State and more

The biggest game of the season (so far) is just around the corner.

No. 2 Georgia will face No. 4 Alabama on Saturday night in the first top-five matchup of the season. It’s the last of four ladder matches in Week 5.

However, the biggest result of the day may have been achieved early on Saturday. Kentucky took on No. 6 Ole Miss in Oxford and stunned the Rebels 20-17 in a back-and-forth duel that ended with a missed field goal that would have tied the game.

Later in the day, No. 21 Oklahoma received a late pick 6 to set up a comeback win against Auburn and earn its first SEC victory. No. 16 Notre Dame also earned a decisive victory by holding off No. 15 Louisville while Colorado defeated UCF on the road.

  • Final: Penn State 21, Illinois 7

The Nittany Lions are strong at home and will improve to 4-0 on the season. They host UCLA next week before traveling to USC.

  • Georgia TD!

This one isn’t quite over yet. The Bulldogs reached the end zone on an 8-yard throw from Carson Beck to Lawson Luckie.

A 2-point attempt is of no use.

Alabama leads 33-21 with 9:55 to play.

  • Touchdown Penn State!

That’s enough for this one. Kaytron Allen just pushed his way into the end zone to essentially seal Happy Valley.

  • FUMBLE! Alabama ball

Georgia QB Carson Beck has the ball deflected by Qua Russaw and Alabama’s Jah-Marien Latham grabs it near midfield.

Beck did it three times today and the Bulldogs are running out of chances to attempt a comeback.

  • PSU milking meter expired

The Nittany Lions are sucking the life out of things in Happy Valley. There are only 2:24 left to play and they have the ball deep in Illinois territory.

Graham Nicholson scores from 28 yards.

The Nittany Lions returned the pick for a touchdown, but there was a penalty on the return, so the PSU ball will be near midfield.

  • Circus catch for Alabama newbie!

Alabama true freshman Ryan Williams made an incredible 55-yard grab.

    Just watch:

  • Penn State misses FG!

The Nittany Lions’ promising attack failed and Sander Sahaydak missed a 40-yard kick that would have given them a 17-7 lead.

The Illini needed that in this low-scoring affair.

  • Georgia touchdown!

A VERY long drive (15 plays, 80 yards) ends with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Carson Beck to Arian Smith. And the Bulldogs also convert the 2-point attempt.

Alabama’s lead narrowed to 30-15 midway through the 3rd.

  • PSU on the rise

The Nittany Lions are putting together a solid performance here and are closing in on the red zone. A two-point lead would seem insurmountable given the way this game has gone so far.

  • PSU forces punt

The Nittany Lions defense just won’t budge. With just over 12 minutes to play, Penn State got the ball back.
