Arch Manning continues to amaze in the Longhorns’ second start

Do you realize how good you have to be to walk onto a soccer field with the last name “MANNING” and still have people say, “Holy crap, this guy is impressive.”

Yes, that’s exactly what Texas quarterback Arch Manning has been doing since filling in for the injured Quinn Ewers and getting meaningful playing time.

The No. 1-ranked team in the nation found itself in a tougher battle with Mississippi State than it might have expected. But when the Longhorns needed a little magic, Manning was there to provide it.

And there was perhaps no better example of that than an absolute bomb the sophomore threw into the end zone with just under thirty seconds left in the first half.

Stood in the pocket, took the hit and still delivered a perfect pass to wideout Deandre Moore Jr.

I mean, we all kind of knew this was coming. Think about the media coverage when Manning was considering where he would play his college ball (or, I guess in the age of NIL, it would be safer to say start playing; you never know).

When he finally decided to become a Longhorn, everyone was twiddling their thumbs waiting for him to make his debut, and that’s what we have this year.

Should we be surprised again? There are enough legendary quarterbacks in the Manning bloodline that Manning has a cannon for a right arm.

But what about his feet? Well, he used those too.

That run set up Manning’s 1-yard touchdown run a few plays later on third down after the Bulldogs’ defense blocked the Longhorns on their first two attempts to beat them into the end zone.

Impressive stuff and I think it goes without saying that we’ll be seeing a lot more of it in the coming years.
