ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Coach Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team traveled by plane to Florida on Wednesday, a day earlier than planned, to escape the hurricane that hit the state on Thursday.

Then they tried to prepare for all of that — a warm, wet and humid game Saturday against Central Florida and the No. 1 rushing offense in the country (375.7 yards per game).

Last week, the Buffaloes (3-1) needed a miracle to survive a wet home game in Boulder against Baylor. They might need another game at a sold-out FBC Mortgage Stadium on Saturday, at least according to the oddsmakers, who favor the Knights (3-0) by 14 points.

The game begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on Fox and marks a homecoming of a different kind for Sanders and many of his players from the Sunshine State, including two-way star Travis Hunter of West Palm Beach.

A big question is whether Hunter will be enough against the Knights. Together with quarterback Shedeur Sanders, he has led the Buffs to victory at times this year. But that could be a bigger task. UCF has scored no fewer than 35 points this season under coach Guz Malzahn.

USA TODAY’s experts have reported on what will happen in Week 5.

ORLANDO, Fla. – About 100 minutes before kickoff, a rain cloud exploded over the field at FBC Mortgage Stadium, sending players off the field and into the ceiling of the stadium. The downpour also drove away Cam Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner, who was walking the field as a guest before the game.

It’s not clear how long the rain will last, but the skies have been something to watch here lately. At 1:17 p.m. ET, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 mission launched about 35 miles east of the stadium at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Due to cloudy weather, the start was not visible from the stadium.

About an hour before the game began, the stadium’s video board was still asking fans to leave their seats.

“Bad weather in the area!” said the video board. “Please leave the seat now.”

Many students still remained seated behind the end zones.

Coach Deion Sanders calls them his “Florida Boys” – players on his Colorado football team who, like him, are from Florida.

This week, many of them came home when the Buffaloes arrived in Orlando on Wednesday for Saturday’s game in Central Florida.

The Colorado roster officially lists 18 players from Florida, second only to players from Texas (21) and even more than players from Colorado itself (14).

But there is more than that with ties to the state. The list doesn’t even include two-way star Travis Hunter, a West Palm Beach native who moved to Georgia for high school. This also does not include freshman starting offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, who played at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida but is from Washington, DC

Also on the list is wide receiver LaJohntay Wester, who returns home a hero after catching a Hail Mary touchdown pass as time expired in the fourth quarter of a 38-31 overtime win against Baylor last week. A native of Palmetto, Florida, he transferred to Colorado from Florida Atlantic along with his brother Jaylen, a linebacker for Colorado.

Sanders is from Fort Myers, Florida, and played at Florida State. He has made a point of recruiting players from Florida, citing the state’s high number of players in the NFL. He also hired Orlando native Warren Sapp to his coaching staff as a graduate assistant earlier this year. Sapp played at the University of Miami.

UCF is expected to induct dozens of recruits on Saturday. But Deion Sanders hinted that many will be there to watch the Buffaloes.

“I shouldn’t say that,” Sanders said on his weekly show on CBS Colorado. “But that’s how we do it… A lot of recruits who really want to see us sign up to go to the game on behalf of an opposing team.”

Sanders said he guarantees the Knights “will have their biggest recruiting weekend this weekend.”

“Every recruit in Florida is going to be on that sideline,” he said.

ESPN: UCF has an 82% chance of winning

According to ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, the UCF Knights have an 82 percent chance of beating the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 5.

The Oklahoman: UCF 34, Colorado 31

Justin Martinez writes: “Colorado beat the odds in its overtime win over Baylor last week, scoring a Hail Mary touchdown from Shedeur Sanders to LaJohntay Wester at the end of regulation. However, I don’t think the Buffaloes can repeat that magic against the Knights.” UCF ranks first nationally in rushing yards per game this season and will use that strength to control time of possession and keep the ball out of Sanders’ hands to take their hands, but UCF will still win.

Buffaloes Wire: UCF 34, Colorado 28

Jack Carlough writes: “The Knights are currently in favor by about two touchdowns, which is way too generous to UCF. However, Colorado’s special teams issues and continued offensive line issues still have me leaning toward these Knights.”

On Saturday, the two programs meet for the first time as UCF (3-0) takes on Colorado (3-1), led by second-year coach Deion Sanders.

Nebraska and Memphis both dropped out of the USA LBM Coaches Poll this week. The Georgia Bulldogs prevailed and took top spot just behind the Texas Longhorns.

There is still plenty of time in the season for teams to continue fighting for position in hopes of securing a spot in the College Football Playoff or at least a bowl game. Here are Erick Smith’s USA TODAY Sports Bowl predictions following the results of Week 4 games.
