Robeson County Farmers Market, 7 a.m. to noon, September. 28: Get farm-fresh produce at the Robeson County Farmers Market! The market is open every Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and every Saturday morning from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Vendors can exit the market if they are sold out. Food trucks are invited to join farmers at the Wednesday afternoon markets. Support our farmers, buy locally grown produce, meat, eggs and more. Special events are planned throughout the season. Fall N-2 Fairmont, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., September 28: A flea market is planned in the fall with all kinds of vendors. The sale will be held outside on the grounds of City Hall, 421 S. Main St. All sellers are welcome.

World Game Day, 10am to 5pm, September 28th: Exploration Station, the staff of the interactive children’s museum, invites children and parents to a day full of exciting activities, door prizes, food, exhibition games and more. Entry is free.

Lumbee Tribe of NC Powwow, noon to 6 p.m., September 28: The Lumbee Tribe’s “Dance of the Harvest Moon” powwow competitions scheduled for Friday will be postponed until Saturday due to expected inclement weather from Tropical Storm Helene. The Grand Entry starts on Saturday at 12:00 p.m., the Grand Entry in the evening at 7:00 p.m. Sunday’s Grand Entry begins at 1:00 p.m. Staff will be available to assist powwow dancers in completing their registration on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center.

Windows of Time Art Exhibition, 2:00-4:00 p.m., September 29: “Windows of Time,” an exhibition for two talented North Carolina artists, Nila Chamberlain and Sandy Stratil, is on view at Red Springs ArtSpace through October 20. Opening hours are Wednesday 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Also by appointment. Call 910-240-2887.

Autumn into winter 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. October 1st: The theme of Fall Into Winter is the changing of the seasons as summer gives way to fall and winter hovers, perhaps just out of sight but increasingly felt in shorter days and cooler nights. The exhibition runs until November 14th. Don’t forget to visit the Featured Artist Gallery during your stay. There is always a friendly atmosphere in the guild hall. The guild hall is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment.

Fairy Hair at Gracie’s, 5:00-8:00 p.m., October 1st: Finklepott’s Original Fairy Hair returns to Gracie’s Apparel & Gifts to prepare customers for all the festivities of the fall season. Register for the event at https://finklepottsfairyhair.as.me/GraciesLumberton. Prices vary.

Oktoberfest – Happenings on Elm: 6 p.m. October 1st: It’s time to celebrate October. Enjoy an evening at Happenings on Elm. Appetizer, dessert and drinks are included in a delicious meal at a moderate price. Registration is required by texting 910-734-0668. Enjoy.

Mental Health Awareness – 5K Run/Walk, 8am, September 28th: You are cordially invited to participate in the Mental Health Awareness 5K/Walk. This event is co-hosted by the Robeson County Medical Society and the Robeson Road Runners. Proceeds will be donated to the NC Professionals Health Program. This 3.1-mile trail begins in downtown Lumberton and runs along the scenic Lumber River before passing through the quiet Tanglewood neighborhood. A direct shot down Elm St. brings the runners to the finish line. This is not a time trial. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, including on foot. The first 75 registrants will receive a shirt. Email [email protected] for sponsorship information and paper registrations/waivers.

Clifford Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament, 8:30 a.m., Oct. 3: The 40th Anniversary of the Clifford Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. with the first shotgun start and again at 1:30 p.m. with the second shotgun start. Prizes will be awarded and raffles will be offered. Have a great day and support the Robeson Community College Foundation. Pembroke Day – UNCP, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., October 3: The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on the quad between Old Main and the Clock Tower. Vendors from local businesses, food trucks, non-profit organizations, healthcare facilities and student organizations will offer crafts, giveaways and educational materials. Student clubs, campus organizations, academic departments and university programs will also participate.

Ethan Hanson, 7-10 p.m. on October 3rd: Ethan Hanson will be live at Your Pie Pizza Restaurant, 5130-a Fayetteville Road, Lumberton. Enjoy pizza, ice cream and beer to the music.

“Last Call at Chez Mort,” Purple Door Studio, 6 p.m., October 4: Purple Door Studio Theater kicks off the Halloween month with a wild mystery dinner event, “Last Call at Chez Mort.” Grab your best suspenders with a fedora or double breasted suit; Put on your bright shirtdress or baggy pants (with red Revlon lips) and come to Purple Door for a fun-filled Halloween party. Through the magic of the theater, everyone is transported back in time to 1947, the era of fancy supper clubs, on the night Chez Mort became famous for a mysterious murder. Make reservations now for this hilarious dinner theater fundraiser. Solve the puzzle with the inspector and win special prizes and freebies. Mike’s Magic, October 4th, 7:30 p.m: Magician Mike Super was a finalist on America’s Got Talent and he is the only magician in history to win a live magic competition on network television. Super began performing magic at the age of 6, influenced by magicians such as Doug Henning and David Copperfield, and now performs approximately 200 shows per year. He also cites Walt Disney as an influence and insists that his love of magic began in a magic shop at Walt Disney World. Super credits his appearance at PHENOMENON to the fact that he got to know everyone who comes to his shows. “It advanced my career in many ways,” he said. “I love meeting people who have seen me on TV. Open Mic Night at 219 elm: Every Thursday from 7 to 9:30 p.m., 219 Elm presents Open Mic Night at Legal Grounds Coffee Shop. Add your name to the 15 Minutes on Stage list along with special guests to provide your entertainment. Special guests rotate, but the protocol for receiving your “15 minutes on stage” remains open. (some restrictions apply). Enjoy a fun evening at 219 Elm on Thursday evenings.

Game night – 219 elm: Join us for Game Night at 219 Elm every Tuesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at 219 Elm St., Lumberton. Refreshments are available at Legal Grounds Coffee Shop. Bring your own games or choose from the in-house collection. Bring the family and enjoy a trip.

farmers market: The Robeson County Farmers Market is open Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. and features only vegetables grown in Robeson County. Local craft vendors are welcome to complement the market. Visit and get to know the local farmers. The market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m., or until the vendors sell out – until November.

Music Jam meeting: Bring instruments and songs to the Risen Farms barn to jam the night away on the first Friday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Bring instruments and songs to The Barn at Risen Farms to jam the night away. Maybe there will be one or two dances?

Herd Swap – Robeson Co. Farmers market: The Farmers Market hosts a Flock Swap every third Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The swap will take place separately on the adjacent property adjacent to the market at 3rd Street and Water Street.
