Lane Kiffin reveals his pick to win the Alabama-Georgia game

No. 4 Alabama is set to host #2 Georgia in a duel between the titans that has often been a fixture in the postseason in recent years.

This year’s matchup won’t have quite the same stakes, as an expanded playoff field that allows 12 teams to advance to the postseason mitigates the impact of a single outcome. Still, it’s a game that both teams want to win.

And everyone around the conference will be watching. Ole Miss trainer Lane Kiffin has joined ESPN College game day on Saturday, where he was asked to pick a winner. He obeyed.

“Oooh. Shoot, what is Georgia, Kirby (smart) “Does he have a 40-game winning streak in the regular season?” Kiffin asked. “But you know, this is Alabama and they’re playing at Nick Saban Field tonight, so I have to go see the Roll Tide!”

Kiffin, who spent time as an employee Nick Saban at Alabama, expressed respect for the longtime coach and his thoughts on the program as he adjusts to a new coach Kalen DeBoer. And one thing they both made clear: the transition went smoothly.

“Well, I don’t think Kalen needs any advice from me,” Kiffin said. “He’s done a great job everywhere he’s been. It’s going to be an incredible atmosphere tonight. I’m sure it’s already there. And it should be really exciting for you to have two of the best programs in America.”

Kalen DeBoer talks about the transition at Alabama

Kalen DeBoer recently announced his transfer to Alabama To College game dayand offers a little insight into the exact moments when the transition felt most real… and perhaps weakest.

But Saban helped him calm down.

“I think it was probably the morning that it all happened and I just think the conversation I had with the coach, just feeling, you know, just feeling how he felt about things has,” DeBoer said. “Knowing that somehow I had some kind of peace in my heart that the transition was going to be smooth and that I was going to have the grace from him to be able to go and take everything on and still be able to accept everything that he was ready for this program is.”

The former Washington The coach revealed how nervous he was before the first team meeting, even though he knew he had Saban’s blessing.

“I knew when I got together with these guys that Friday night that it was going to be dead quiet and they were going to have a lot of questions,” DeBoer said. “There were a lot of emotions and things that they were going through and it was just a matter of meeting them where they were at the time, you know, and really trying again and using the word ‘hug’ a lot.” , but that’s exactly what it was about.”

Alabama has received DeBoer quite well so far, getting off to a 3-0 start and is looking forward to today’s game against Georgia.

The game begins at 7:30 p.m. ET with a broadcast on ABC.
