ACC issues statement on controversial call at end of Virginia Tech vs. Miami game

The ACC issued a statement regarding the controversial call that ended the duel between the two on Friday night Virginia Tech And Miami.

With three seconds left on the game clock, VT QB Kyron drones fired a 30-yard bomb Da’Quan Feltonwho brought the miraculous Ave Maria. But after nearly ten minutes of deliberation, the referees overturned the decision and Miami walked away with a 38-34 victory.

“During the review process of the final piece,” the statement said. “It was determined that the loose ball was touched by a Miami player while out of bounds, making the pass an incomplete pass and ending the game immediately.”

There were obviously mixed reactions to the end of what became a classic between Virginia Tech and Miami.

After the game, Miami QB Cam Ward didn’t hesitate to use social media. In the win, Cam Ward completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 348 yards and four touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. It’s just the Heisman Trophy candidate’s latest standout performance.

Ward’s choice of emojis in his post is reminiscent of his famous touchdown celebration. After finding the end zone, the senior QB often covers his face with one hand while waving the other hand back and forth in front of him. The post is like salt in the wound for Virginia Tech fans who were upset about the game’s controversial ending.

Virginia Tech fans weren’t the only ones who disagreed with the referees’ decision in Miami’s favor. ESPN analyst Andre Ware felt the call should not have been overturned and sympathized with the Hokies’ supporters.

“There’s a lot of talk about it because I just don’t know where you’ll see it on the replay to reverse the call on the field,” Ware said. “And if it had been described as incomplete, then look at it that way. I just thought that whatever was called on the field, the call should stand. This is hard.”
