Angelina Jolie is reportedly closing a legal chapter in her battle against Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie appears to be slowly putting her feud with ex-husband Brad Pitt behind her – signaling it’s time to move on. The 49-year-old actress has reportedly dropped her federal case against the Justice Department related to the alleged 2016 domestic violence incident involving Pitt.

The submission received from In touch weeklyIt states: “The parties to this action hereby agree to dismiss this action without prejudice, with each party paying its own fees and costs.” The documents were submitted to the court on Wednesday, September 25, marking the end of a two-year saga with the FBI. In March 2022, she filed the lawsuit under the pseudonym Jane Doe, requesting specific documents related to her Freedom of Information Act investigation.

Details of the lawsuit were released six months later, revealing what appeared to be a dark day for the then-Jolie-Pitt family Entertainment tonight. (TRIGGER WARNING) The pre-launch altercation began between Pitt and an unnamed child, believed to be her eldest son, Maddox. Pitt reportedly “grabbed her by the head, shook her, then grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her,” while telling his then-wife, “‘You’re screwing up this family.'” The situation persisted, with at least two of their six children crying in fear as she claimed the abuse happened “every 30 minutes” during the flight. The FBI classified the incident as “criminal activity” at the time. However, after the case was transferred to the Los Angeles office, the federal agency withdrew from charging Pitt.

Sources close to Pitt said at the time TMZ that Jolie was trying to “drag Brad Pitt’s name through the mud again.” The media outlet also obtained documents from the FBI investigation that stated, “All parties agreed that criminal charges would not be filed in this case for several reasons.” Those parties included representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI.

While this chapter is now closed for Jolie and Pitt, the war over their French winery rages on with no end in sight.
