Does DreamWorks’ The Wild Robot have a post-credits scene?

“The Wild Robot” is here.

DreamWorks Animation’s latest feature film, written and directed by Chris Sanders and based on the bestselling novel by Peter Browne, stars Lupita Nyong’o as a robot who washes ashore on an uninhabited island. Needing something to do, she takes on raising a young gosling whose family she accidentally destroyed. What follows is a heartbreaking story of family, togetherness, and agency – the right and desire to change one’s programming, whether one is a robot or a playful fox. (Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames and Mark Hamill voice some of the animals.)

But the question remains: Does The Wild Robot have a post-credits scene? As you recall, “Inside Out 2” had you sticking around after the credits rolled for Riley’s deepest, darkest secret. Does the same apply to “The Wild Robot”? Read on to find out!

Does The Wild Robot have a post-credits scene?

It does!

Really?

Yes!

Tell us more!

The film features a small montage once the credits roll (we’re 99% sure this is to give people time to wipe away their tears and collect themselves), then the main credits, and then a small post-credits scene.

What is that?

Well, now we should issue one big spoiler warning.

Okay, okay.

Are you still there?

Yes.

Okay, let’s move on.

Carry on!

In the sequence, Fox Finch (Pascal) and Paddler (Berry) plant a new tree. In the climactic confrontation between the robots who want to capture our robot protagonist Roz (Nyong’o), the animals cut down a huge tree that Paddler had been gnawing on. It helps them flood the valley and put out the fires caused by the evil robots. This shows that nature is healing and growing and, crucially, that animals are still working together. Of course there are still some rascals. And when a mischievous squirrel approaches the tree, Fink knocks him over with an acorn. (This is a recurring part.)

Oh, that’s sweet!

Yes, it really is.

Anything else?

No. That’s it.

Will “The Wild Robot” continue?

Of course, that depends on the box office (and awards recognition). But Browne has written two more books, so we think Roz will be back sooner rather than later. We certainly hope so.
