Raiders News: Raiders expressed interest in Justin Fields during the offseason

The Las Vegas Raiders were expected to bring in a new quarterback this offseason to compete with Aidan O’Connell. There were a lot of ideas about who the Raiders could add to the competition for one of Justin Fields’ connections.

Fields played under Luke Getsy for two seasons and was inconsistent. He had a breakthrough season with football, rushing for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns. Many thought there would be a reunion between the two, but the Raiders chose Gardner Minshew.

The Raiders have not been in touch with Fields during the offseason, but he shed light on the situation during a podcast interview. In a conversation with Cam Heyward, he revealed that the Raiders were one of the teams that showed interest.

“I’m not sure about all the teams, but there were a lot of teams that already had solid quarterbacks and I didn’t want to do that. Chargers were one thing, Ravens were another. Raiders, they talked a little. I don’t know too much. I don’t know who else was there, but a lot of teams had established quarterbacks who were just getting new contracts, so I didn’t want to be there.”

Fields is having a successful season with the Steelers and may not have had the same success in Las Vegas. However, it’s interesting to hear that the Raiders have tried to pair him with Luke Getsy.
