Poultry house destroyed in Tuesday’s storms in LaGrange County

An EF1 tornado struck LaGrange County Tuesday evening.

Cleanup efforts are underway across the area as winds of more than 90 mph blew through the county, leaving a path of destruction.

Two people were injured in Tuesday’s storm.

Sheet metal and other debris could be seen in the fields and trees.

A poultry house was also destroyed.

LaGrange County Emergency Management said two people were injured by the storm.

They were injured when their buggy was overturned.

Officials said they suffered minor injuries and were being treated at the hospital.

As for the rubble, much of the tin was collected and the broken wood of a chicken coop was burned.

The community acted very quickly to recover after Tuesday night’s tornado.

Officials said the damage was extensive.

“From the damage we assessed, I estimate it to be about 4 to 5 miles. There were other sightings of, you know, possible funnel clouds coming down across the county and stretching throughout the county, but we “We didn’t see any damage or anything like that out there, so I can’t really say for sure.” that happened,” said Bill Morr, emergency management director for LaGrange County.

Morr also said people should be careful when following the storm’s damage path.

“If you are traveling in this area, please exercise caution. There are a lot of people working through these areas and roads who don’t travel much. They’re seeing more traffic today than they’ve probably seen in the last couple of years combined, so I’m just asking everyone, ‘Be careful,'” Morr said.

The owner of a damaged poultry house said he saw a tornado.

“We had a tornado touchdown and saw him come out of the woods. We saw the cloud on the ground and it rolled around and came right up to the barn. Went to the side of the barn,” said Mervin Bontrager, poultry house owner.

At this time, the National Weather Service has not said whether or not a tornado caused this damage.

Your survey was completed the previous Wednesday.
