The nationwide march for unity and justice stops in Greenville

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Organizations and community members marching across North Carolina with the goal of shedding light on important issues many face every day stopped here in the East.

The Long March for Unity and Justice is a nationwide movement of Beloved Community Center. On Thursday, dozens of people marched through the streets of Greenville, starting at the Town Common.

The community center’s popular operations manager, Brigette Rasberry, says she believes change is starting to happen in the community. Their goal is to address dysfunctional systems, encourage voter participation and strengthen communities.

“Come out and join us,” Rasberry said. “Raise your voice. Let’s make your issue known and then we can support each other, stand with each other and work together to create the change we want to see in our community.”

Rasberry says she also hopes to shed light on many issues, including environmental justice, women’s rights, racial and social justice, workers’ and labor rights, and immigration justice.

The march initially began on September 20th in Cullowhee and is expected to end on September 29th in Wilmington. For more information click here.
