ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky calls out the Cowboys for setting Dak Prescott up for failure

The Dallas Cowboys started the season 1-2 heading into Thursday night’s game against the New York Giants. A lot of criticism has been leveled at Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott, particularly given the contract extension he secured earlier in the regular season.

Through three games, Prescott has completed 60.7% of his throws for 851 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. Prescott played well, but the Cowboys offense as a whole struggled to consistently get the ball into the end zone.

For ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, the finger can’t be pointed exclusively at Prescott. In fact, he believes the coaching staff did his star quarterback a disservice.

“I don’t think there’s an offense in football that wrecks their offense more than the Cowboys’ Dak Prescott offense,” Orlovsky proclaimed. “The fundamental way to get your quarterback to play better or make it easier to play better is to run the football, which the Cowboys can’t do. They use game actions. The Cowboys don’t do this. They use movement. The Cowboys don’t. t. The Cowboys aren’t in the bottom three or four in some of them, and in a lot of cases they’re saying, ‘Dak Prescott, we want to be as tough on you as possible,'” Orlovsky added.

Maybe Thursday is the night the Cowboys’ offense comes off the runway and starts producing at a level commensurate with their talent.

Time will tell.
