Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants recap: Scores, updates, highlights and more

1st quarter

The New York Giants won the toss and put the ball back, giving the offense a chance to give the team a lead that they were able to exploit. Dallas went three out and that was it.

New York started to move and had a big chance on rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers in the first period. Ultimately they managed to prevail, but not before securing the first points of the game with a field goal.

At this point, the Dallas Cowboys got to work in earnest. Over the course of 12 plays, they ultimately gained 95 yards thanks to the remarkable work of Dak Prescott (writing penalties). The possession was capped off with a screen pass to Rico Dowdle for a touchdown. There was initially a penalty, but it was overturned.

The quarter ended a few plays later when the Giants had the ball.

Notable breaking news

A loss on Thursday night would give Dallas a 1-3 record in the first four games of a season for only the eighth time in franchise history. Hopefully that’s not the case.

Injury updates

As for the Cowboys, Caelen Carson and Markquese Bell expressed doubts in the most recent injury report.

As for the Giants, both Adoree Jackson and Dru Phillips have been ruled out.

NFL news relevant to the Cowboys

This is the first game of the week, so not much has happened yet. But as far as the NFC East is concerned, since we always keep an eye on it, it’s obviously a divisional game, meaning there are only two left in the week.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders are both on the road this week, facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. For the Eagles, it’s a rematch of the Wild Card game they lost last season, which also took place in Tampa Bay.

Next up are the Cowboys

The Cowboys get a small bye to hopefully pick up a win and will soon be back in action in prime time when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers next week Football on Sunday evenings.

Entering Week 4, the Steelers are one of the league’s remaining undefeated teams and host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
