Netflix's new romantic comedy series has just been released – and already looks like the perfect series for binge-watching

It’s been a while since Netflix released a romantic comedy that really stood out in a crowded market, but it seems like Nobody Wants This is set to become the latest hit now that it’s landed on the market. Streaming service. As someone who loves funny romantic comedies that don’t take themselves too seriously, I know I’ll be one of the first to binge-watch the series.

This feel-good romantic comedy seems to have all the ingredients to make it an easily consumable film. It is almost guaranteed into the Netflix top 10 and even has the power to challenge the latest controversial show for the top spot. The early reviews are very positive, with critics calling the series “electrifying” and praising its sharp humor, outstanding performances and the “sizzling chemistry” between the main actors.

Although it’s still early, Nobody Wants This already seems like a strong contender to be the streamer’s next No. 1 show. With an irresistible premise and plenty of charm, this could be the hit viewers have been waiting for. Nobody Wants This is a romantic comedy series about the unlikely romance between agnostic podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and newly ordained rabbi Noah (Adam Brody). After meeting at a mutual friend’s dinner party, they quickly fall in love, but their relationship is tested by their vastly different lifestyles and the interference of their families.

Based on the true story of how series creator Erin Foster met her husband, this romantic comedy explores whether love can really bridge such great differences, with plenty of humor and heart along the way.

First reviews of “Nobody Wants This” – what the critics say

As already mentioned, “Nobody Wants This” has only Only has landed on Netflix, so it doesn’t even have a Rotten Tomatoes rating at the time of writing. However, some early reviews of the show have made their way online, and they all sound pretty positive.

The Guardian Lucy Mangan called it a “cheerful romantic comedy” and said it was the “funniest, sweetest, raunchiest, most romantic and real thing we’ve seen since – well, since Colin from Accounts.” Mike Hale of the New York Times appreciated the emotional performances: “Bell and Brody, who have both done this before, are a wonderful couple. You keep your fingers crossed for Joanne and Noah as the pressure on their relationship reaches its peak at the end of the season.”

Most of the praise seems to go to the strong chemistry between Bell and Brody. The AV Club Saloni Gajjar found it “amazingly light-hearted to watch,” but that’s because of how the characters handle such an unexpected relationship: “It’s clear that Noah and Joanne really want this (relationship) to work. And without Brody and Bell, who convey that feeling so well, the show wouldn’t be as believable and charming.”

However, not all reviews are so positive. Daniel Fienberg from The Hollywood Reporter called it a “frustratingly uneven romantic comedy” that “relies as heavily on stereotypes as it does on sitcom tropes.” But they didn’t quite dislike the show and ended the review with, “In response to the title of the show, it’s not that I don’t want this. I really, really want this. But referencing a completely unrelated romantic comedy… that’s complicated.”

Should you stream Nobody Wants This on Netflix?

I didn’t even need to look at the reviews to know that I’m going to be binge-watching all ten episodes of Nobody Wants This as soon as possible. It seems like Netflix subscribers have been waiting for this refreshing romantic comedy, and I hope it makes at least the top 10.

Of course, it may not be the most groundbreaking show ever, but the unique pairing of a sex podcaster and a rabbi creates plenty of room for hilarious moments and deeper conversations about relationships and faith. Plus, the undeniable chemistry between the leads is a gigantic Bonus.
