Here is Rose’s retirement letter in full. All six newspapers have the same text:

“Thank you, my first love…

You believed in me through good times and bad and were my constant when everything else seemed uncertain.

You showed me what love really means. You made the farm my sanctuary, a home where I could express myself freely.

Thanks to you, every early morning and late night we spent together was worth every drop of sweat.

You reminded me that I could always rely on you and that in every moment of doubt, you would show me what I was capable of.

They showed me new places and cultures that a kid from Chicago could never have imagined.

You taught me that every defeat is a lesson and every victory is a reason to be thankful.

They imparted wisdom that not only relates to the game, but also to life, to discipline, hard work and perseverance.

You showed me that passion is something to be valued and made me put my heart and soul into every dribble, every shot, and every game.

You stood by me, even when the world seemed to be against me, unconditionally, and waited for me to pick you up.

You gave me a gift, our time together, which I will cherish for the rest of my life.

You told me it was okay to say goodbye and assured me that you would always be a part of me, no matter where life takes me.

Forever yours, Derrick Rose”
