Mumbai Rains LIVE Updates: Heavy rains likely to continue; schools, colleges in Pune closed today

Mumbai rains live updates: The city and suburbs of Mumbai are most likely to experience “thunderstorms with lightning and heavy to very heavy rain with gusty wind speeds of 40-50 kmph,” the Meteorological Department forecast on Thursday. Meanwhile, at least four people died in heavy rains and floods in Mumbai, Reuters reported.

Due to the severe weather warning, schools and colleges were closed in several districts, including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, on Thursday, September 26.

Road and rail traffic resumed in Mumbai on Thursday, a day after heavy rains lashed the city, flooding low-lying areas, halting local trains and forcing at least 14 incoming flights to be diverted.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for Palghar and Nashik and an orange warning for Thane, Raigad, Mumbai and Pune for Thursday. According to the Meteorological Department, isolated heavy rains are very likely over Konkan, Goa and Central Maharashtra from September 25 to 27.

Mumbai and the surrounding areas have been experiencing heavy rainfall since Wednesday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red warning for Mumbai until 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.
