nationwide media survey after week 5

The high school football season is approaching its halfway point, and the latest Kentucky national media poll reveals which teams are capable of advancing deep into the postseason.

For the first time this season, a Northern Kentucky team is at the top of its class. The Cooper Jaguars, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, will need to cement that ranking immediately when they travel to No. 3-seeded Highlands.

Thanks to Lloyd Memorial’s appearance in the Class 3A poll, Northern Kentucky now has a ranked team in every class.

The poll is conducted by Jason Frakes of the Louisville Courier-Journal, and 16 journalists from across the state vote on the top 10 teams in each class.

Here are the full polls. Northern Kentucky teams are in bold and first-place votes are in parentheses.
