Olympic athlete Ilona Maher and her professional dance partner Alan Bersten are taking social media by storm, dropping hints about their rehearsals before their next performance on Dancing with the stars. Now the duo has done it again. Ilona and Alan have decided to recreate an iconic scene for the upcoming Movie Night episode of the show. They will perform “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from the film.
The scene in question? Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny (Patrick Swayze) chemistry-charged allusion in Dirty Dancing. It’s not set in the Catskills, but they’re right about one thing. One person has a lot of experience in the dance field and another has a lot of determination.

This has divided her followers. Instagram user @caittay_ wants Alan to take on Johnny’s role: “This is perfect. Do the exercise but DO NOT SWITCH. I want to see my incredibly strong and beautiful Ilona lifted in the air like the female queen she is.” However, TikTok account @miranda_writes114 would prefer the exact opposite: “If you do the famous exercise but lift Alan I will GO CRAZY.”
That wasn’t the only thing people commented on their profiles. They shared that the couple had “conquered” social media, even if they didn’t win the disco ball trophy. They also don’t want Ilona and Alan to stop creating their “beautiful, quirky” content. “Step aside kids, Ilona and Alan are the two most important people in my life now,” wrote user @schmoodledoodle, and that pretty much sums up most fans’ reaction.
Two couples will be eliminated on the September 24 episode. In the season premiere on September 17, all of the contestants were introduced without anyone being sent home. This week, their scores will be added up to see who is in danger. Given the chemistry between Ilona and Alan, it would be shocking to see these two go home so early.
