U.S. News & World Report released its rankings of the best colleges of 2025 on Tuesday, and several Greater Cincinnati-area institutions, including the University of Cincinnati, Miami University and Xavier University, made the list of best colleges in Ohio.
Miami University’s Oxford campus ranked third among the best colleges in Ohio, behind Case Western Reserve University and ahead of the University of Dayton, which ranked fourth. Miami also ranked 136th on the list of best national universities.
Ohio State University ranks 1st overall in Ohio and 41st nationally.
The University of Cincinnati was ranked #5 among the best universities in the state. The Bearcats also ranked #152 among the best universities in the country. Xavier University was ranked #7 among the best universities in Ohio.
Mount St. Joseph University ranked 12th.
To determine its rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 1,500 U.S. colleges offering four-year bachelor’s degrees on 17 factors, including graduation rates, first-year retention rates, student-to-faculty ratios, peer evaluations and more.
