Hello Strands fans. It took me a while to understand today’s puzzle, simply because the topic – “liftoff” – seems a bit too broad. At first I thought it was about astronomy, but after not being able to find any planets, galaxies or NASA technology, I came to the conclusion that I was on the wrong track.
Luckily, I then saw ALIEN and realized that this was on the more imaginative end of the space spectrum. In fact, I saw the spangram of SCIENCEFICTION spelled out from top to bottom, and I was gone.
The spangram and my existing answer clearly demarcated ROBOT, so I went with that next, followed by MARTIAN in the top left corner and DROID below that.
That left only two answers in the bottom left, and both were backwards. This was a puzzle for a moment, but when I got MUTANT, I realized the remaining “Y” was part of CYBORG to complete the puzzle.
