With concert ticket prices starting at just P1,500 each across all price ranges, Olivia Rodrigo’s “GUTS” show in the Philippines in October became a historic event.

The Filipino-American singer’s concert sparked unprecedented demand, with nearly 800,000 fans joining the waiting list to secure one of the few spots. This overwhelming response underscores that the country is definitely her territory, and her identity as a Filipina contributes to that.

A key element that sets the Grammy winner’s Philippine concert apart is her initiative to keep tickets affordable for fans, which Filipinos call “presyong kababayan.” Concert producer Live Nation has also made sure that black marketeers cannot resell the tickets at inflated prices.

Nearly 800,000 fans lined up online to buy tickets, and only over 50,000 seats were available at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. Many fans expressed their frustration at not getting tickets by making references to Rodrigo’s famous lyrics such as “jealousy, jealousy.” These lines perfectly expressed the disappointment of those who did not get tickets during the first pre-sale.

Fortunately, there is still hope for those who missed it: ticket sales will begin at the counter on September 29th, giving fans another chance to attend the concert.

In addition to the enthusiasm of the fans, Filipino celebrities are also participating. Actress Andrea Brillantes expressed her pure excitement for the concert on social media.

In her post, she humorously gave vent to her panic, desperately declaring that she could not possibly have any professional commitments on October 5, the day of the concert, and shouted: “BLOCK OFF YAN BLOCK OFF!”

Rodrigo’s concert in Bulacan is the Philippine stop on the Asian leg of her “GUTS” world tour. Before arriving in the Philippines, she will perform in major cities across Asia, including Bangkok, Seoul, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

With proceeds from the concert benefiting her global initiative “Fund 4 Good” to empower women and girls, the event is not only a musical milestone but also a meaningful contribution to a larger cause.
