Popular candy and ice cream shop makes its debut in Ocean City

Ocean City, a town with a fantastic selection of ice cream, homemade fudge and chocolate, will soon open a shop long known for making all three products.

Kilwins, a nationwide candy and ice cream franchise, has been known for decades for manufacturing and selling high quality chocolate, ice cream and candy with excellent service.

Kilwins, 736 Wesley Avenue in Ocean City, opens July 25.

What is Kilwins?

Since the only two existing New Jersey locations are in Bergen County, we’re assuming you don’t know anything about Kilwins. Me neither.

I’ve never tried Kilwins, although they have locations near Pennsylvania, in King of Prussia, West Chester, and downtown Philly.

But I did some research on the company and found out the following.

In 1947, Katy and Don Kilwin opened their first location in Petoskey, Michigan, and the company is still headquartered there today. There are 146 locations in 25 states.

The company has become an American success story with a tradition of producing high-quality chocolate, original recipe ice cream, freshly baked fudge, caramel, toffee crunch and other confectionery products, and a reputation for hiring people who are interested in giving you a first-class experience.

Kilwins offers a wide range of original, homemade ice cream flavours, from classics such as Mint Chocolate Chip or Dulce de Leche to originals such as Chocolate Caramel Cashew or Banana Fudge Pie.

Fancy a caramel apple? Kilwin’s “The Perfect” Apple is a Granny Smith apple that is hand-dipped in caramel made fresh in the store.

Caramelised popcorn and caramel brittle are made in Kilwins’ in-house kitchens in traditional copper kettles.

Turtle Fudge and Sea-Salt Caramel Fudge are other top sellers at Kilwins.

Kilwins also sells shakes, malt beverages, sundaes, sorbettos and ice cream quarts to go.

From the sounds of it, there’s a lot of good stuff to try at Kilwins. We look forward to trying them out in Ocean City.
