There were all the signs that this was going to be a typical White Sox loss: five hits, 12 Ks (though to be fair, two home runs!), 1-for-8 with RISP. But that’s exactly how Lenyn Sosa gave the White Sox a point and (quite comically) stunned the Petco Park crowd with a two-run game-equalizer on a full count with two outs:
What kept the White Sox and their incredible luck alive at the end of regulation was a line drive by Luis Arráez that ended in an inning-ending double play.
But in the 10th inning, Fernando Tatís Jr. dealt the White Sox a fatal blow with a leadoff double.
The White Sox now have a “modern” record of three losses and need to go 3-5 games from here to avoid joining the worst record since 1899.
