Focus on “play style” is rewarded; fans’ reactions to the Vikings’ victory against the 49ers

First of all, I would like to thank you for all the hard work you and your colleagues are doing again this year. I appreciate all the content you publish that helps me keep up with my favorite team on the other side of the world (Germany).

If someone told me we would be beating the 49ers without our 3 “sons” (Jefferson, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson) I probably would have laughed out loud. All the best to Jefferson and Dallas Turner, hope they are OK after their tests.

I want to focus on our playmakers. O’Connell already has a reputation as one of the best playmakers in the league, but I think he’s outdone himself this season. Jefferson is double and triple covered on a regular basis, and somehow O’Connell still manages to put yards between himself and the next defender. It’s ridiculous. But Flores impresses me even more. I liked the defense last year, but I didn’t think it would hold up. It seemed “gimmicky.” This season, however, we seem to be the most creative defense without relying on “special” plays to keep the opposition in check. The 49ers are no joke, even without McCaffrey, and even if the stats don’t look great today, it was a great performance by our defense. Kudos to O’Connell and Flores for not only training these men to play every snap like their lives depended on it, but also calling great plays and putting our team in favorable positions.

Greetings and great respect from Germany,

Thank you for your support from all over the world and your kind words. It is truly an honor for us to work for the Vikings and do something we love thanks to our amazing fans. Sunday’s game coincided with the 10th anniversary of my interview here (the first day was September 28, 2014).

The Vikings were able to produce explosive plays without having some of their biggest opponents on the field at the same time, which shows the depth and development that has taken place throughout the roster.

O’Connell and Flores seem to be timing their decisions well, allowing players to make good plays and building on their mutual success.

Minnesota’s defense limited San Francisco to 2 of 10 third-down shots and 1 of 3 fourth-down shots.

The Vikings forced two turnovers to offset two Minnesota turnovers. Under O’Connell, the record improved to 19-0 when Minnesota was tied or ahead in the possession.
