The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented on Sunday evening.
Previous winners include Billy Crudup as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for The morning show and a trio of actors for The bear: Jeremy Allen White (Best Actor in a Comedy Series), Liza Colón-Zayas (Best Supporting Actress) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Best Supporting Actor).
Eugene and Dan Levy will host the 76th annual festivities, which will be broadcast live on ABC from LA’s Peacock Theater. The father-son duo previously said they plan to take a “softer” approach to their hosting job. “We’re paying tribute to television, to the nominees of course, but also to the medium that gave us both our start,” Eugene said in a recent interview. “It’s always weird to me when jokes are made at the expense of the nominees – they put in the work, and it’s really their night, and you have to have enough respect for the awards show itself. Otherwise, why are we here?”
The Emmy production team reiterated this opinion in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last week. “Awards shows can sometimes get a little bit mischievous or have insider knowledge, but the 75th Emmys really gave us an opportunity to celebrate television in a way that I think everyone can really feel nostalgic about,” says Dionne Harmon. “With this show, we want to focus on characters that you’ve loved over the years — your favorite TV moms, cops, villains or coaches, all on stage together. So you get nostalgia with a new twist.”
The Primetime Emmys are presented one week after the Creative Arts Emmys. Check out the winners from night one and night two.
On the way to the ceremonies, Shogun led the nominations and was also the frontrunner at the Creative Arts ceremonies last week with 14 wins. Other top nominees are The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, True Detective: Night Country And The crown. See THRs Tips and predictions for the winners.
