As TWSN writer Monty Lobb mentioned, Sean Payton could very well be on the hot seat. It wasn’t a terrible game against the Seattle Seahawks, but it wasn’t a great one either. Traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Denver Broncos, Payton didn’t have much success in his first season, but he did OK with a record of 8-9.
This season, Russell Wilson is no longer with the team and Payton’s hand-picked quarterback Bo Nix is under center, so there’s no room for excuses. Nix didn’t look fantastic in his debut, throwing for 138 yards and two interceptions. Payton is supposed to be an offensive guru. If that’s not the case and Payton can’t coach like he once did with the New Orleans Saints, the Broncos will have to think about moving on.

The ideal replacement would be Peyton Manning. Although he spent most of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, he spent four years with the Broncos and won a Super Bowl with the team.
Like most quarterbacks, Manning played like a coach on the field, with his leadership skills and ability to read other teams. His style of play would easily translate to a career as a coach, not to mention he has the winning and championship pedigree to know how to build the team to take the Broncos to a competitive level.
Even with Nix in the fold, Manning would be the ideal coach for him to learn and adapt quickly to the NFL. With the talent the Broncos have on both sides, Manning could make the most of it and turn Denver into a team that can compete with the Kansas City Chiefs.
