New renderings released for Raleigh Entertainment Sports and Entertainment District

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – New renderings from the Carolina Hurricanes show the brand new entertainment district planned for the West Raleigh area near Carter-Finley Stadium.

There are shopping opportunities, nightlife and a 4,500-seat concert hall.

The Canes told Eyewitness News that the goal is to attract more people beyond just games and concerts.

“There are about 200 days a year when there’s really nobody here,” said Brian Fork, CEO of Hurricanes Holdings LLC. “This is a prime piece of property in the middle of Raleigh, Wake County in the Triangle area. It’s easy to get to. We want to use it as a community asset. So more people come here more often.”

It will take 15 years for the project to be fully completed.

The first phase of development is valued at $200 million and construction is scheduled to begin in December 2025.

“There are people who like to party and go to games. There are a lot of people who like to eat. We hope more people will come because there are other activities here,” Fork said.

The first phase includes a plaza expansion to complement the arena’s upcoming renovation and a 600-foot-long promenade with tailgating suites, balconies and a new open space where thousands of fans can gather.

The entire entertainment complex will cost at least $800 million.

The district will also make improvements to the arena, which will be paid for by the City of Raleigh and Wake County.
