Reports: Colts cornerback likely out for rest of season with knee injury – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Colts suffered a tough blow to their already young secondary on Tuesday.

According to NFL Network, second-year cornerback JuJu Brents is likely out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. The Colts placed the former Warren Central player on the injured list while he repairs his knee, which will require surgery.

There is a chance he could return to the field towards the end of the season, but he will at least have time to get healthy for the 2025 season.

According to ESPN, the injury occurred during Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, but he managed to pull through and finish the game.

The Colts selected Brents in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Since then, his rookie season was cut short due to a hamstring injury, he only played in nine games and achieved a coverage rating of over 100.

The young Brents has been injury-prone since joining the Colts. He has also battled wrist and hamstring injuries. He left the Week 18 game against the Houston Texans in January because of that hamstring injury.

During this preseason, Brents broke his nose in the second preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals at Lucas Oil Stadium. He was able to recover and start in the Colts’ season opener against the Texans on Sunday. Brents had seven tackles in the 29-27 loss.

The Colts travel to Green Bay this weekend for their only road game of September. The Packers will be without starting quarterback Jordan Love, who is also on the injured list with an MCL sprain. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
