TE notes: Through two weeks, Trey McBride was the only tight end who perfectly fulfilled his expectations from the preseason. … People are getting injured, so the 49ers are actually taking advantage George Kittle. To the surprise of absolutely no one, he’s performing. Even more than McBride, Kittle is probably the favorite to finish as the TE1 overall if: 1. The 49ers continue to have injuries. 2. Those injuries don’t include Kittle, who hasn’t appeared in every game since 2018. … Sam LaPorta is fighting to get into the top 20 in average PPR points in two weeks. The rise of Jameson Williams is undoubtedly bad news. There is simply no way LaPorta is stuck in 3/20ville. The Cardinals are a compelling chance to break through. … With zero Brock Bowers Shares hurt. There will be some adjustments on defense, but Bowers is clearly the No. 2 weapon for a team that lacks a running game and wants to play pitch-and-catch through the air. The Panthers have a terrible defense.
It was (another) slow start for Travis Kelce. He was inches away from a touchdown in Week 2, losing a 41-yard pass due to a penalty. TE5 is probably an overreaction, if we’re being honest. … Mark Andrews still runs all routes and has a dominant view of the field. Isaiah probably came back down to earth in Week 2, as expected. The Ravens will probably still need Likely’s frame, but they need Andrews’ clear targets more. He’s another slow starter who should get into shape. … Jake Ferguson (Knee) Knee almost played in Week 2 and is expected back against the Ravens. It’s not always that easy, but the goal-hungry Cowboys seem to have no choice but to block Ferguson’s looks. … I wish I loved anything as much as Dalton Kincaid loves rotating snapshots with Dawson Knox. It’s already late out there early. It’s still hard to see Kincaid’s usage dipping to the point where he falls out of the top 12 of this sad group of tight ends.
Even though AJ Brown was out in Week 2, the Eagles targeted Random Guys over Dallas Goedertincluding its replacement Grant Calcaterra. There are not many great options ahead of Goedert. There is also no reason to look forward to playing against him. … At the beginning of the season there is always the dilemma: We don’t want to overreact, but we have to react. Through two weeks, Mike Gesciki is top-five in tight end yardage and receptions for a quarterback known for targeting the seam. He’s worth a TE1 punt against the weak Commanders defense. … Given these reactions, I won’t completely discount Hunter Henry‘s second career 100-yard effort, although it was his first in five years (lol). He’s almost literally the only experienced, healthy pass receiver on the Pats. That seemed to mean something in Week 2. … Colby Parkinson was a major flop in Week 2, but how will the injury-plagued Rams cope without his targets? … Jonnu SmithThe YAC potential could be an X-factor with Skylar Thompson as center.
